need help with other ways of supporting Andre
Read the case study, then complete the questions that follow.
Andres is 4 years old and has recently started at the centre only 3 weeks ago. He is from a Non-English speaking background and speaks with an accent however his language skills are well developed. He has two male parents who he refers to as ‘dad’. The centre staff are aware of Andres’ family structure and have included stories that include same-sex parents into the mix of stories read at the centre.
Andres recently has been displaying and getting into some verbal and sometimes physical altercations with other children. Andres’ parents are aware and have recently come into the centre to discuss his behaviour.
a. Is Andres’ behaviour disruptive or behaviour of concern? Ensure that you explain your response
b. What steps could you take to support Andres’? Ensure that you include any cultural or environmental aspects.
heres what ive got so far
6.2 Set up a program on same sex parents and how it’s ok to have the same gender. Showing movies and setting up activates around to show the same sex relationship. Also having a talk to the dads and explain what you’re doing at the centre to help release some of Andre’s behaviour. Giving the dads some ideas to do simpler activates at home, by helping introducing other families that ok the same as his, showing him that there is not much difference between same sex families and other families.
