Your Assignment Module Number and Heading: CHCECE001 Develop Cultural Competence
Your Assignment Type: Case Scenario
Currently Working in Childcare? Yes
Your knowledge: Advanced Knowledge

Your Question?
Zennie
Zennie (3 years) is lying on the cushions in the reading area, looking quite upset. The educator sits next to her.
Zennie: “Pia and Milo say I can’t be their friend ‘cause I talk funny.”
Zennie speaks with a strong accent but is easily understood.

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
I based my answer based on what actually happened to me at work today (how ironic)
I had a child who was also roughly 3 -4 years ask me "Do you talk funny because of your braces?"
I answered "No I was born with this voice, just like you have a differrent voice to everybody else,"

I thought I could base the answer similar to that and confront the children
"Pia, Milo, saying Zeenie can't play with you because she talks funny is hurtful. We all talk differently," (not sure what else to add to that)

Description and Message:
I think its right. I done this response before but forgot what I wrote :/

Is it too simple?
 :wtf: :geek:

That is right...Also, when I had such a situation, I said like "each person has different skin colour their voice is also different...also different birds make different sounds in similar way people have different sounds too".

Hope this helps!!
