Hi there!!
I am stuck on question two for the scenario:
Mawsil and his family have recently moved to australia as refugees.
Mawsils wife was killed in Iraq. He is a sole parent with two children, a four year old boy named Aben and a seven year old girl named Yasmin.
Mawsil has limited English. He said he is finding it very difficult to run the family household and Yasmin has taken a lot of her mother's tasks within the household.
Aben is a very quiet child. He often sits in the cubby house nursing a doll. He spends a lot of time in the 'kitchen play space' with other children. They take turns at making and serving food.
Mawsil one found Aban with a doll and was angry about it. He took him by the arm saying "no, no" and sat him down with the trucks and gave him a truck. He spoke to him angrily in their home language (Arabic). He looked at the educator and shook his head.
Sometimes the children serve afternoon tea to each other. One day Aban put on an apron and was serving some sandwiches with tongs when Mawsil same to pick him up early. He shouted in 'Broken English' that serving sandwiches was women work and he didn't like it. Aban was upset but didn't say anything. A new support worker spoe to the father and child in Arabic. You are not sure of what was said.
Question 2. Outline approaches/techniques you coukd take to manage cultural conflicts.
