Hi
I need a help in this case study

A parent asks you how their child behaved today while the child is listening and other parents are in the same room. The child has hit another child leaving a bruise. This is not the first time it has happened and you need to talk to the parents about strategies to use.

What is your role in this situation
Are there any legal issues related to this situation
What part/s of code of ethics does this relate to
Whom to do need to report information to
How will you protect confidentiality
How will you ensure a non judgmental approach
How will you avoid the conflict
Does this situation involve a conflict of interest

My answers are

my role is to comfort the child wgo is being hurt, fill the incident form,and protect confidentiality

Legal issue...not sure about this. But i think there is no legal issue.

Code of ethicis no idea, totally stuck here

Report to supervisor or manager

Protect confidentiality by not disclosing the information to unauthorised people

Non judgement approach by talking with both kids calmly...not blaming a particular kid. Listen to both.

Avoid conflict by talking both kid's parent.

no conflict of interest here

I think you're a little confused with the scenario. The scenario is about you having to talk to a parent about how their child has behaved today. The child has hit another child and has left a bruise. The child that was hurt is in the same room along with their parents as well. So, the questions are based on this instance.

Yes, you need to maintain confidentiality of the child that has hurt the other child, maybe you could go into another part of the room away from other children and parents to discuss what has happened. You will also need the parent to sign the incident report which should done in privacy and in confidence away from others as to maintain the integrity of the child.
