Staff to Children Ratio when Travelling

Hi

I need help please on the following questions to make sure I'm on the right track.

When travelling with children, what are the regulations or standard ratios of staff to children in your service type?

How does this ratio compare with normal ratio of the number of staff required for the number of children in your services?

Thank you

Jojo :P

Hi JoJo,

I was just looking through the Childcare Legislation and I found the staff: child ratio's for excursions. It is as follows:

- 1 adult for every 2 children under the age of 3 years

- 1 adult for every 5 children over the age of 3 years

Normally in a childcare centre the ratio's are:

- 1 adult to every 4 children under 2 years

- 1 adult to every 8 children under 3 years

- 1 adult to every 10 children under 6 years

I'm giving you a link for the Childcare Regulations. This gives you the information you need for your question on excursions and ratios. Here is the link: http://www.legislation.nsw.gov.au/fullh ... v.1-sec.53 (in the contents menu click on excursions (division 3) for more info).

Have a good weekend,
