Hi I am not sure if this post is in the right forum....

I am currently in South Africa and making the big move some time April next year.
Please can someone explain to me the rules and regulation to open a family day care In Victoria.
From a rented home or owned....

Thank you
Sharlene

Hi Sharlene,

A quick question...

Hi Lorina

I am currently doing my Cert 3 with Inspire. My family and i are immigrating next year Around May or so. I will then do my Diploma when i arrive in Australia.

So i was thinking while studying i can maybe, open a family day care from home.

Much appreciated Lorine.... You taking the time to answer my question

That's great that you are currently studying for a qualification in early childhood itself! It's good that you already worked out what you want to do once you get settled here in Oz!

In regards to FDC, we do have another topic which I would recommend that talks about how to start your own FDC business and I think it will give you some information on what to expect and how to get started:

How To Start Your Own FDC

Hope this gives you an idea!

Hi Sharl,
What a huge move you are making all the best with that. Lorina already gave you some info, just a couple of little things.
Every scheme is different, have their own policies according to what they have experienced with educators and they also have different fees. Shop around and see what suits you best. For example most schemes where I am don't allow swimming and going to the beach but one scheme does. You are not limited to the closest scheme to your home and you are able to change schemes when ever you like. See what fees they will charge you and your families, these can differ a lot and make the difference of you being full of children or not because of what you will have to charge to make a living. Lots of educators work from a rental home, make sure you have it all sorted with your landlord before you sign the lease in case they won't allow it.
