The Chan family have been in Australia for 2 months, they have migrated here from Hong Kong. Mr and Mrs Chan have a 20 month old son, Sebastian and wish to enrol him into your Service. Up until their move to Australia, Sebastian had been looked after by his grandparents who only spoke Cantonese to him. They are worried that Sebastian will not understand staff and other children. Luckily, there is a Cantonese speaking staff member in your centre and they have decided to enrol Sebastian 3 days a week.
Describe how you would welcome the Chan Family into your Service?
What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
I thought you could welcome the family to the centre by possibly learning a few basic cantonese words to at least be able to greet them your self when they arrrive at the centre even though their is a staff member who can already speak the language. Display some cantonese words on the wall. Arrange some activites to introduce Sebastians culture to the other children in the centre?????
