Scenario: Kali Wearing Best Clothes To Care

I need help with ideas on how to answer this question:

Sarita sends Kali (4years) in her best clothes and tells her to ‘stay clean’. As a mother it is her responsibility to ensure her children are impeccably dressed and clean as this reflects on the status of the family. Sarita expresses annoyance with the educator if Kali’s clothes are soiled at the end of the day. Kali is very anxious about staying clean.

i.Identify the likely differences beliefs/practices that may create tension.
- So far i have : Putting Kali in her best clothes for daycare to keep up family 'status'
- sarita becoming annoyed with educators due to soiled clothes

ii. Describe what action (if any) the educator could/should take.

????

Other ideas include:

Educator can explain that it is difficult for Kali to get involved in some experiences as she is worried about staying clean. Maybe Kali can have clothes she can change into during her time at the centre so she can get more involved in activities and at the end of the day she can change back...

Hope this helps,
