the question is

⦁ How does the Children’s Service promote self-help skills around meals times?

would it be like hand and eye cooderation eg able to hold spoon/fork or just fingers to mouth action?

Hi Stehanie,

Self help skills around meal times means things like the children pouring their own glass of water or milk, Getting their own lunchbox out of fridge, Choose their own food from lunchbox, Help set the table etc.
Hope this helps

Self help skills around mealtimes can include.

Washing hands
Getting own dishes and cutlery
Serving own food with a serving spoon or tongs (some children will need to be supervised very closely when doing this)
Pouring own drink.
Feeding self with a spoon for older babies and young toddlers
Using a knife and fork for older children
Using an open drinking cup
Scraping uneaten food from bowls/ plates
Stacking dirty dishes

Hope this helps
