Hi
I am doing my vocational work experience in the babies room . I am stuck with the following question:
Describe a situation where you worked ethically. Refer to the student Code of conduct and ECA Code of ethics in your response.
my answer is
A parent had just enrolled their 14 month child in the centre. The child was visibly upset and suffering from separation anxiety. She sat crying on the floor and gestured to be up. I asked my supervisor if it was okay for me to hold the baby as there was another educator in the room at the time. With her permission I picked the baby up and tried to comfort her by showing her some pictures and toys while gently talking to her. I also noticed that her nappy needed to be changed. I again let the supervisor know and with her permission changed the baby’s nappy in the presence of another educator.
As a student I was told by my supervisor that I should not hold a child or change the nappy in absence of my educator. I therefore made sure that I was with another educator at all times so that in case a child needed physical comfort or a nappy needed to be changed I could either hold the child or change his or her nappy.
is there a student code of conduct that i have to refer to?
