Your Assignment Module Number and Heading: LA016780 Legal Cluster, Work within a legal and ethical framework
Your Assignment Type: Case Scenario
Currently Working in Childcare? Yes
Your knowledge: Basic Knowledge
Your Question?
I'm working on the Legal Cluster LA016780,
scenario 1 f) Using a child focused approach explain how you will communicate with the child?
What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
So far I have...Similar to my initial response I would try and explain in an age appropriate way how we feel, why we feel that way and how to handle these feelings, What the right choice is e.g., hands to our selves and to use our words to explain how we feel, if that doesn't work please find a teacher to help you through it, hitting is not the right choice and only makes others sad. I would also talk about feeling and emotions at group time with all the children to help script positive outcomes from negative situations as a way of role playing (of course only with a positive point of view) I would also work hard to improve my relationship with James to add a sense of security for him so he knows he can talk about anything with me (refiring to the circle of trust).
My initial response was.
I would talk to James about feelings and try to reassure him of his safety at the centre, to help him feel like if he needs to talk about something that he can with us. I would remind him that it is not ok to hit someone when you're upset (double meaning both for him to not hit others but also so he knows if he is being hit at home that it is not ok either). I would inform the other staff in the room what I saw so we can try and track and future bruising and depending on how I feel about it in the moment I would probably inform the centre director so we could then log dates and incidents so if reporting became necessary in the future we could back track with correct dates and descriptions.
