Use of damaged or broken toys
1.1 Children feel safe, secure and supported

2.3.2 Every reasonable precaution is taken to protect children from harm and any hazard likely to cause injury
Toys should be checked a minimial of weekly to ensure they are operating at there full potential. Loose parts and pieces should be re-attached and ensure they are fitted securely to minimise a possibility of choking. Damaged or broken toys need to be removed immediately from play to help prevent any possible injuries
A register should be implemented in the shed or where toys are kept, Workers putting toys out for outside play, they can check this every morning to ensure safe toys are placed outside. Each toy that has broken or is need of mending should be written down immediately to keep all workers updated.
Playing with broken or damaged toys is dangerous for the children in care, the toy may break further causing serious injury to child, a loose part may break/fall off posing a choking hazard. Safety is a serious priority within the childcare industry, children shouldn't be exposed to such a threat to their safety
