HLTHIR404D - Cultural Realities For Service Delivery To Indigenous Communities

Hi
My question is....What are some of the cultural realities that need to be addressed to facilitate full participation in service delivery by Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander people? This is my answer & am I on the right lines? Diversity, land, self-esteem & self-determination, continuing disadvantage & economic inequities, differences from mainstream needs, communication, culture.....I am just a little confused & not sure if that's what I'm being asked.
Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank in advance.
Eyvonne

I think this questions refers to being culturally aware of the history, customs, practices etc, and using this knowledge to support service delivery to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. For example:
Acknowledgement of land and original custodians and Welcome to Country
When organising a meeting, event or conference, it is respectful and good practice to acknowledge the land in which you are meeting and its original custodians.

More information on the above (page 14) can be found in the following:

Hope this helps,
