Your Assignment Module Number and Heading: HLTHIR404D Work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
Your Assignment Type: Standard Question
Currently Working in Childcare? Yes
Your knowledge: Beginner

Your Question?
Just double checking my answer for 'There are many reasons that Aboriginal families may be reluctant to discuss their concerns with the non-Aboriginal staff. Consider the historical events that affect Aboriginal families and discuss three significant events (3) that occurred.'
I have listed; The stolen generations, Death in custody:the Indigenous deaths in custody and Maralinga.
Are they appropriate? Or was it asking me to include other historical events?
Please help?!

Yes, it sounds like you just need to provide a brief description on historical events that occurred. I guess there are quite a few to choose from and I don't think they are asking for specific ones so you can pick any 3 I'm assuming. Other historical events that occurred:

- Land Disposition
- National Sorry Day
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission Act

Thank you very much! Was worrying my answer wasn't correct.
Also having trouble with 3 strategies that could be used to develop understand the local communitiy (Aboriginal) and their needs?
Would that mean things like including promoting cultural celebrations, including certain aspects of the community within the service, etc?
