Hello Vickimaree,

I would love to hear your opinion of the question and the direction you believe you need to go with this question before an answer is provided for you. I have personally done a very similar case study during my certificate 3 and am aware of a LOT of information regarding the topic existing online and through books. I am more than happy to help you but I would love to see you put some research into the topic yourself as well before I assist!

I apologise if you find this unhelpful but I do not want to do your entire assignment for you :P

You are on the right track by need to look deeper into the issues affecting Aboriginal families. The follow are things outlined to be of concern for Aboriginal families:

• Lack of information
• Cost of service
• Accessibility
• Lack of transport
• Lack of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff
• Culturally irrelevant programs.

While you can not address all of these, you can look into ways of including the families and their culture into the centre. For example, I remember during my studies it was explained that eye contact with Aboriginal people can be offensive. This is just one example of something we wouldn't think about that could potentially affect the way the new family feels about your centre. This article here outlines various ways to include Aboriginal families within a centre and is worth a read! Including Aboriginal Australia In Your Service. Another great article is Working with Indigenous children, families, and communities.

I hope this helps!
