Hi I am currently stuck on a question for the unit CHCPRT003
The question is
the effects of child abuse and neglect and its impact on the process of investigation and assessment
any help would be greatly appreciated
thank you
Regards
Klara

This is what i think could be the answer

the effects of child abuse and neglect
: the child could feel depressed and emotional
: lack of self esteem
: children that experience child abuse and neglect tend to be more self destructive or aggressive to abuse drugs or alcohol
: the child could become a young offender or a street kid
: disorders that are anxiety based
: attachment disorder
: distrust of adults
: suicidal thoughts and self harming
: post traumatic stress disorder
: aggressive behaviour

its on the impact on the process of investigation and assessment could be
: the staff members and the centre could have a bad reputation
: the child protection agency can come up with support strategies and support plans for the child that is at risk of harm
: the centre management and management at an education and care service are to liaison with the child protection agency and give them updates on how the child is going
: Child protection agencies will be in contact with the education and care service to know how the child is progressing
: Educators, centre management and staff members are to observe the child that is at risk of harm and provide the child protection agency with the documented observations to see how the child is going
: Educators, staff members and centre management will need to provide the child protection agency with a fully documented report of the child protection incident
: Educators are to work together with the child protection agency in regards to the support plan and support strategies that the child protection agency has come up with
: Educators and staff are to spend one on one time with the child
: Educators should never contact the child protection agencies as this is the role of centre management
: Staff are to be provided with adequate training and knowledge in regards to child protection
: Centre management will meet with the child protection agencies to discuss what has happened and how everything is going
: The child may be provided with counselling sessions and services
: the child may be assigned with a child protection officer
: the child may be put into foster care
: Child protection agencies will be in contact with the families

Hi Klara,

For Q1) your responses are good!

For Q2) your responses seem more like strategies to support the child been abuses rather than the impact. In your first point, you mentioned "staff memebers of the centre could have a bad reputation" that is a likely impact. Another few could be:

- staff are likely to be stressed and worried during the process
- distrust from the parents involved
- educators may have their own personal views and opinions which causes them to be biased toward the parents
- gossip could start around the centre
- educators could act differently with the child involved etc.

Hope thsis gives you some ideas!
