Your Question?
Vivien is a 4 year and a half year old and will not turn five until late May. Her parents are currently deciding whether or not to send Vivien to school or hold her back for another year. Vivien has attended pre school three days a week for almost a full year. It took Vivien several months to settle at pre school, as she had a great deal of trouble separating from the mother. Vivien is quite a bright child, her cognitive skills are well above that of her peers. Socially, Vivien is mainly solitary child, she finds it difficult to enter play situations and she has not made any 'special friends'. Vivien has excellent language skills although her shyness and quiet nature means that she is reluctant to seek adult help when needed. Vivien has poor gross motor skills and is reluctant to try any task involving climbing or balancing. Vivien does not cope well with any changes to the routine.

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
what skills does Vivien have which will assist her in transition to school? answer cognitive skills language skills

what skills could the educator and parent work on to prepare Vivien for school? gross motor skill separation anxiety self confidence/emotions and feelings.
