Hi all,

Just answering a question for this unit and was wondering if you could give me an oppinion on my answer...

12. Why is it important to take a child’s likes and dislikes into account?
It is important to take a child’s likes and dislikes into account because from doing so you can advance their interests while avoiding unnecessary conflicts. If a child is comfortable and in an environment that makes them feel happy and safe they are more willing to participate and learn from the activity that has been provided.

Does this sound silly? I know it's a pretty simple question but I've been studying all weekend and have now hit the brick wall (time for chocolate!)

Any tips would be greatly appreciated & I do apologise if this has been asked somewhere else, I did do a search before I posted but couldn't find anything.

Hi LY,

You're on the right track with your response to this question...

It's important to take a child's likes and dislikes into consideration in order to facilitate their learning. If a child is interested in a something or likes to a certain activity it's important to offer it to them to enable the child to progress in their learning and understanding. When a child dislikes something they will be hesitant and unwilling to take anything from it, therefore being unable to learn or discover new things. It's probably best to observe what a child's interests and likes are and try to incorporate what they dislike into what they like... If that makes sense...lol...

Hope this helps :geek:,
