Hi, I need help with the question, I need to list 5 respectful communication strategies and give an example for each....
I think respectful communication strategies might be
1-listen carefully
2-spend time with each child
3-body language to show interest
4-follow up on interactions
5-respect chilren's privacy
but what type of examples i should give?

Hi Mushroom,
With the examples you have given, not all of them that you mentioned are communication strategies. I think that with this question it is referring to communication strategies you would use with a child but you did mention some good points in your response. Some of these may include:
1) Lower your tone. A loud voice sounds angry (even though you may be quite angry) and can be very embarrassing to you and to a child.
2) Get down to the child's eye level. Engage child in eye-to-eye and hand-to-shoulder contact. For example " Mary, I need your eyes," or "Ryan, I need your ears."
3) Use "I messages." Try non-threatening openers. Begin your request with "I" or "we" instead of "you." Instead of "You need to stop throwing sand everywhere," try "We keep sand in the sandpit so we don't slip over".
4) Give advance notice. If a child is involved in a play activity, give them time to finish what they are doing - "We're leaving soon, say bye-bye to the toys, bye-bye to the balls, bye-bye to the trucks," or "In 5 minutes we will pack away" etc.
Hopefully this gives you some more suggestions on how to answer this question,
Hope This Helps!
Cheers

yes sure.I want to know am I thinking right or there's something missing. Now there's a question that what communication methods we will use to collaborate with children for buying some indoor games and why?
I think of it that communication methods used can be:
in a group discussions, survey or evaluation, suggestion boxes, writting each idea on a paper and discussing its good points and drawbacks, anecdotal. In this way each child can have a turn to express his ideas, interests and feelings, we can model the behaviour (collaboration), we want to encourage, children know the way to work in a group,i.e, they learn how to respect each other, how ideas are shared and how conflicting points handled.
Second question is identify 3 appropriate strategies you could use to introduce new idea.
I think these are:
1-encouraging children to consult with each other
2-new and stimulating materials are presented to children
3-chidrens' ideas are shared with others in a group situation.
third if a child offers a suggestion regarding an activity or play experience.how might you respond? give an example.
I think its answer is, I would appreciate his suggestion, would write on a paper and discuss with other children, what they think of it and would ask the child what he thought about it that it would be great addition in our centre.
Should I give example of an activity or my response, I am confused here.
Fourth how would you ensure that sufficient time is given to children to express ideas?
answer may be review and monitoring of routine practices.
I know I wrote a long story and you need time to read it but I will really appreciate any help.

Hi Mushroom,
I just had a read through the questions and your responses and they're good. You've come up with some good suggestions and strategies on how to positively communicate with children.
I also just wanted to mention that while I was reading your responses that it made more sense towards the question if you swapped some of your answers around for question 1 and question 2. What you have written is great but to me I think it will be more suited if you swap it. Like this:
For your first question about communication methods could be used add in (below) and remove these points from your second question.
1-encouraging children to consult with each other
2-new and stimulating materials are presented to children
3-childrens' ideas are shared with others in a group situation.
For your second question about how to introduce a new idea add in (below) and remove these points from your first question.
survey or evaluation, suggestion boxes, writting each idea on a paper and discussing its good points and drawbacks, anecdotal.
Hopefully this make sense!
Cheers
