Your Assignment Module Number and Heading: Activity 2:10 providing choices
Your Assignment Type: Case Scenario
Currently Working in Childcare? No
Your knowledge: Basic Knowledge

Your Question?
Read the scenario and answer the following questions...
Brendan (3) does not want to sit at the table to eat his lunch. You have asked him twice to come to the table. What choices could you offer Brendan that would encourage him to cooperate with you?
Jessie (5) is busy cutting up paper on a table you require for a cooking activity. What choices could you provide for Jessie that would encourage her to cooperate with you?

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
For Brendan I wrote: that he could either sit at the table and eat his lunch or go without or have time out.
Jessie: I wrote- "Jessie, I can see that you enjoy cutting, you can either choose to do cooking with us or you can do cutting at another table.

Description and Message:
Not sure if I answered this correctly, would love some feedback.

The choices you had given in your response don’t give the children encouragement within each of the scenarios.

For Brendan some choices can include:

- Asking him where he wants to sit.
- Who he wants to sit next to.
- Help to give out the bowls and spoons.
- Help to serve the food.
- After lunch he can continue what he is doing, before rest.

For Jessie some choices can include:

- Ask Jessie to assist you in the cooking activity.
- Giving her a few minutes to finish what she is doing.
- Helping her move to another area.

Hope this helps,

Thanks L.A., that has helped me a lot. I was on information overload when I was doing this exercise. I don't think I was thinking straight whenI tried to answer this question.
