Riley 11months old plays peek-a-boo with educator, kate. Where's Riley gone? I can'tsee him anymore. Riley giggles and pulls the cloth from his face. Oh! there he is! There's Riley. Where you hiding from me, Riley? Riley looks at Kate and laughs. He repeats the game several times.
1.Do you think Riley feels safe, secure and supported? Give a reason why.
2. Describe the possible learning that may occur.
3. Comment the materials/ resources provided- how they support learning and development
4. How does the experience support the infant: educator support?
5.Can the educator promate learning.

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?

1. Yes Riley feels safe, secure and supported because Riley feels happy and repeats the game with Kate again.
2.The child can learn how to hide and visible and how to repeat the process.
3.Cloth is the material provided to Riley.From this cloth he increased his interests and he learns the process of repeating and it will bring the child to the next development. Because every learning is a step for child development.
4.The child looks very happy while playing with the educator and the educator encourages the child to positive learning.

For 2, I would add the child is aware that being hidden does not mean something has gone away, rather just that it is hidden from view but is still there. This is a big learning outcome for young children who may previously have felt if they couldn't see something, it meant it was no longer there (This will help children with things such as separation anxiety)
For 3, there is also the sensory aspect, Riley learns that the cloth is soft, this can be further extended on by providing other textures for Riley to experience. There could also be bright colours , soft colours etc to aid learning.
5. Learning can be further promoted by the educator hiding objects behind the cloth and Riley taking thecloth away to reveal the object. Whilst doing this the educator can verbalise the objects name: "You found the rabbit Riley" etc to enhance language. Things such as sensory as I said above can also come into it. The educator can use this to notice areas of interest for Riley and then expand on them. For instance if Riley likes this then books with peek-a-boo' flaps on them might be the next step?
