Janet is the mother of 3 year old Sarah who has been enrolled in the facility. Janet has called you on the phone and wants to discuss a situation. She is upset because she thinks that a boy at the facility is bullying her daughter. Janet thinks that her daughter is very quiet and vulnerable and is being psychologically affected by the situation. She thinks that her teacher is not doing anything to stop the bullying and that if it continues this way, she might have to remove her daughter from the facility.

My responses so far:
3(a). How will you respond to Sarah’s mother Janet?

Apologise for the situation
Invite her to come in for a meeting with you, herself and Sarah's teachers
Discuss the bullies policies
Apologise again

3(b). What strategies will you put in place to ensure Janet (Sarah’s mum) is happy with your actions?

Ongoing communication book

Yes, you're on the right track with your response!

You could also:

- discuss with Janet what strategies you will be implementing to ensure bullying stops
- tell Janet that you will discuss bullying with the children, what it means, what to do etc.
- have a meeting with Janet to discuss the bullying situation and what's been put in place to stop it

Hope this helps,
