Hi All,
I'm currently studying the unit CHCECE013 - Use information about children to inform practice. I am a little stuck on one of the questions, any suggestions would be a great help.

Q- You are the new educator in a room. Your lead educator has told you that 4 year old susan is struggling to make friends and has asked you to observe her for 1 week.

outline your plan on how and when you will observe her for 1 week. be sure to include ways you will pay close attention to what she is saying and doing in order to identify her interests, ideas, knowledge and skills as a part of your observation.

I have put for my answers
All day- close observations in group activities
Meal times
Outside play
inside play
read a book about making friends
communication games
find a place where you can sit that's offers a clear view
interact with susan and encourage other children to join in

Thanks for your help x

For each day during the week you could observe Susan at different times so for example:

Monday - During group time
Tuesday - Outdoor Play
Wednesday - Indoor Play
Thursday - During meal times
Friday - Group activities

For each observation you do you could use a different method of observation to ensure that you get an overall sense of her social development skills such as through time samples, jottings, photo observations etc.

Hope this helps!
