Hi all

I am stuck on these task questions and I don't know what to do

Question 1

Develop a plan for an experience that will assist children in learning about the interdependence between people, plants, animals and the land

Question 2

Evaluate your service and the caregiving strategies used. Identify two changes that could be made to ensure your service is more sustainable and will help children develop a life skill such as:
. Growing and preparing food
. Waste reduction
. Recycling
. Caring for the environment

Question 3

Then address the following points

a) Describe what each change would be and how it will make the service more sustainable
b) Identify the life skills it will help children develop
c) Document a plan to introduce each change. Your plan should include, Who, What, Where, When and How
d) Identify and describe how you would involve the children
e) Identify and describe how you would involve families and the community

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Regards

Klara

For Q1 you could do a group discussion on the importance of trees and what happens when you cut them down, such as the animals have to leave as their homes gets destroyed etc. I have a fantastic book from Dr Seuss called The Lorax which is about the environment and cutting down trees and what happens etc.

For Q2 and Q3 have written an article on sustainability you can find it in the articles page under Childcare Articles, it's called Sustainability In Childcare. This will give you ideas on what practices you can implement within the centre.

Hope this helps,
Lorina

Yes, I think that it should be fine. The story is a little tough but should be fine for the older age group - preschoolers. However my 2 year old loves the story as well... If you want something simple just search for a simpler story for the younger children.

Hope this helps,
Lorina
