6. National Quality Standard (NQS) 3.2 “the environment is inclusive, promotes competence, independent exploration and learning through play.”

a. Using the NQS above, list six features Educators should provide when structuring the learning environment to meet this standard?
The six features of the environment that educator should provide are :
▪ Is inviting and comfortable.
▪ Encourage a free flow of activity throughout the day.
▪ Facilitates positive interactions between children, families and Educators.
▪ Is regularly reorganised to continuously engage children in quality experiences in both built and natural environments.
▪ Is flexible in the arrangement of furniture and equipment and includes open-ended materials to encourage children to become flexible thinkers,problem solvers and investigators.
▪ Is flexible to allow children to move resources and equipment and extend learning opportunities.


b. Choose one of the above features and provide an example of how you could implement this within a children’s service.
