Scenario 4
Aiden and Jade, both 5 years old, are sitting with you at morning tea. You would like to model good communication and start a discussion with them to extend their thinking.

(b) List 2 ways you will show you are listening to them?
Listen carefully to both’s communications and value and respond to them as genuine communication partners.
I will be asking questions to them related with communications.
Talking about healthy and nutrition food.

After a few minutes, Aiden becomes frustrated and knocks his plate to the ground, spilling his food.
(C)List 2 ways in which you would support Aiden to acknowledge and take responsibilities for his action?
I will let him know if he don’t want to eat he need to put his food away of let me know.
He need to respect his food because his parents spend money for that.

How do you know someone is listening to you when you are talking?
- They look at you
- They ask questions related to your conversation
- Through their body language etc.

The issue here is because he is feeling frustrated not because he doesn't want to eat... If you spill something over then you need to clean it up so Aiden can be asked to clean up the food that fell on the floor. When he is finished cleaning, wash his hands and get more food. If he is feeling frustrated he needs to ask for help.
