Scenario
A group of three toddlers were playing in the sand. Each child had a scoop and was digging independently. Barb (carer) watched the children as they dug in the sand. Soraya (15 months) pushed her scoop into the sand and then reached for a small teapot nearby. Soraya picked up the teapot and began filling it with sand. Damien (18months) who was sitting near Soraya, looked at her and then reached out to grab the teapot. Soraya pulled the teapot back out of reach of Damien. Damien lunged forward towards Soraya with his mouth open.

1. What do you think will happen next?
2. If you were Barb, how would you have set up the environment prior to the children’s play?
