Hi all am just a bit stuck and don't know where to go with this quesiton or if im doing it right?

Scenario: Under the Influence
The carer has heard rumors that Tyler's mother, Libby, spends most days ay the club drinking and gambling. There have been days when the carer thought Libby looked a little unsteady and smelled of alcohol.

Is this a privacy Issue? why/why not?

What should the carer do?

My answers are:
No, this is not a privacy issue. As a carer you have to fulfil a duty of care to the child. If you suspect that the child’s parent is under the influence then it may be possible that the child is being neglected and is being put in danger. So u need to take the necessary actions to keep the child from harm, by contacting children's services or by discussing with your director about a suitable action plan.

Because you suspect that the child may be in danger you need to discuss it with your centre director to see what action plan would be appropriate.

Am stuck here and don't know what the carer should do
please help :s

Thanks

Hi Jeska,

If you suspect a parent may been under the influence when picking up their child, it is our duty of care not to let the child go with that parent. If this happens, you will need to tell your director immediately. You should contact another family member/friend from the child's file for " authorization to pick up" and get them to take the child home.

Hope this helps,

Cheers :geek:,
