What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
I have a copy of erikson's theory and have read through it many times. I have no idea where to start, i'm not sure what sort of information is actually relevant to this and if it is, which section it fits in. Any kind of direction or help would be great.

HI Danzilles
The first one - trust vs mistrust - this is in the birth to 18mths stage of development. Basically is the infant is provided with an environment (say at home) that they learn to trust will be if they are properly held, cared for and their needs provided for. If the environment is such that they are not provided for, held and their needs met, they will not learn to trust. So you would say something along the lines of - if the home environment is one where the child's Mum (or caregiver) looks after her child well, ensures they are well cared for, and looks after their needs, this will allow the child to be optimistic and have trust in others. However if the home environment where the child is not bathed, fed, held when upset etc they will learn to distrust.
Same sort of thing for autonomy vs shame which is 18mths to 3 years. If their environment (home/care etc) supports them they will learn to be confident and have self esteem. A bad environment, where their needs are not met and they are not supported in learning new skills can cause them to have bad self esteem and feel shame.
Hope this is of some help
