Hey guys, Ive answered a question on planning menus for 6 - 12 month olds, and I was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers on my answer. The question and answer are below
Use the table provided to plan a menu for one week. The format requires you to plan for lunch, morning tea, afternoon tea and a late snack. You should include all of these meals in your plan regardless of whether they are provided by your service or not. The infants in your care are aged 6 – 12 months.
NB You should take the following into account: the Dietary Guidelines for Australians, the healthy living pyramid, a wide range of recipes including both hot and cold meals, the age of the children and the foods that are suitable for their developmental abilities, what children like and the meal patterns of children
MONDAY
MORNING TEA
- Peach rice pudding (Pureed for the little ones and textured according to age and developmental appropriateness)
- Milk (formula/breastmilk)
- Water
LUNCH
- Roast Beef with, natural gravy, mashed potato and seasonal roast vegetables (textured according to age and developmental appropriateness)
- Water
AFTERNOON TEA
- Raisin toast with butter (alternately weetbix with formula or breastmilk)
- Milk
- Water
LATE SNACK
- Crackers with cheese (alternately baby rusks)
- Fresh fruit juice diluted.
TUESDAY
MORNING TEA
- Fresh fruit salad (alternately fruit salad pureed for little ones)
- Milk
- Water
LUNCH
- Chicken, cheese, spinich, broccoli and pasta bake (pureed or textured according to developmental and age appropriateness)
- Water
AFTERNOON TEA
- Custard and fruit puree
- Water
LATE SNACK
- Banana Muffin (alternately mashed banana with breast milk or formula for little ones)
WEDNESDAY
MORNING TEA
- Fresh fruit (Pureed for the little ones and textured according to age and developmental appropriateness)
- Yoghurt
- Water
LUNCH
- Lentil and vegetable soup with wholemeal toast
- Diluted fresh fruit juice
- Water
AFTERNOON TEA
- Pear Rice Pudding
- Milk
- Water
LATE SNACK
- Cheese and crackers ( baby rusks for younger kids if appropriate)
THURSDAY
MORNING TEA
- Fresh fruit platter (pureed for little ones)
- Cheese and crackers (baby rusks if appropriate)
- Milk
- Water
LUNCH
-Tuna with cheese and pasta with Broccoli, peas and carrots. (Pureed for the little ones and textured according to age and developmental appropriateness)
- Water
AFTERNOON TEA
- Fruit cake with custard
- Water
LATE SNACK
- Fresh fruit puree
- Milk
- Water
FRIDAY
MORNING TEA
- Raisin toast with butter
- Milk
- Water
LUNCH
- Bolognaise
- Cauliflower and green beans with cheese sauce
- Water
AFTERNOON TEA
- Scones with butter
- Milk
- Water
LATE SNACK
- Fruit with Rice cereal with breast milk or formula
