Hello,
I would add some things to this like:
Obviously after just finishing morning tea, washing hands would be required.
Then I would bring them all to the mat and tell them we are going outside, but there were a few things that they needed to do first.
In the younger children's room, I have found that when we are preparing the children to get ready to go outside, we turn the procedure into a game or a singsong, that way even the litties are able to remember how to contribute.
Instead of just asking them to go and get their socks and shoes on ( as many of them take them off as soon as they are indoors ) we will sit them down on the mat and say sings like "if your wearing something yellow today, stand up and go and get your hat out of the locker" or "if you are wearing something blue, go and get your socks and shoes and bring them back to the mat" Assisting the children who do not know all their colours yet by pointing to the colour chart on the wall. It only takes the children a couple of goes before they learn the concept.
This way, instead of just telling the children what to do, they become part of the decision making, as well as brushing up on their colour recognition skills.
This seems to help motivate the children more then just asking them to get their shoes on.
We also sing songs about getting ready to go outside, so that when they hear the song, they remember all the things they need to remember- hat, shoes, line up, hand out for sunsccreen, rub it in etc..
Hope this helps
