I REALLY STUCK ON THESE CASE SCENARIOS THEY FRUSTRATE ME I WOULD LOVE IF USE HELP ME XO
What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
NOT SURE IF I DID THEM RIGHT:?
a)jack feel comfort and move him away be distracted by playing with toys, shanta tell her it was not to push jack and pull his hair and tell her there is nothing to cry ,if she would like to read book or play with toys.
b)Johannes to help pack up toys put them in the basket and would he like to play in the sandpit after lunch

Read the following scenarios and suggest an appropriate carer follow-up response. Give a justification for
your answer based on your knowledge of child development.
Shanta (20 mths)
Shanta is very unsettled. It is 10.30 am and normally Shanta is having her morning sleep. Today she cried
each time the carer tried to put her in the cot. The carer has been sitting with Shanta looking at books but
has had to go and assist some of the other children.
Jack (8 mths) is sitting on the floor playing. Shanta walks over to him and pulls his hair then pushes him
over. Another carer looks up from across the room and in a very firm voice says, ‘Shanta no! Don’t hurt
Jack.’
Shanta lays face down on the floor and begins to cry.
Johannes (2.2 yrs)
Johannes is playing in the sandpit when it is time to go inside for lunch. The children are required to help
pack away by placing the sand toys in a basket which is next to the sandpit.
Carer: ‘Johannes, can you put the red buckets in the basket, please?’
Johannes looks at the carer and then runs to the door.
Carer: ‘Johannes, I asked you to put the red bucket in the basket.’
Johannes folds his arms and looks down. ‘No, me not!’

Luiz (3.4 yrs)
There are four older trikes and four new trikes at the centre for a group of 25 preschoolers. Ned (3 yrs) has
been waiting for a turn on one of the new trikes when he is joined by Luiz who also wants a turn on the new
trike.
Two older boys ride up to the waiting children saying, ’We’re finished. You can have a turn now.’
One of the trikes is new, the other an older one. Ned starts to sit on the new trike. Luiz pushes him, yelling
‘I’m having that one. Get off!’
Ned doesn’t move so Luiz pushes him harder, this time knocking Ned and the trike over.

Hua (4 yrs)
Hua is an extremely bright girl who has excellent language and problem-solving skills. She is an only child
and is considered by the carer to be ‘over indulged’ by her doting parents. Hua is also quite tall for her age
and is often mistaken for a 6-year-old.
Hua is sitting at the drawing table examining shells and drift wood. She begins to draw a shell paying careful
attention to detail. Hua is joined by Yong who is rather gregarious and often quite clumsy. As Yong sits down
he bumps the table which causes Hua’s pencil to scrawl across her drawing.
Hua turns to Yong and says ‘Look what you made me do!’ Hua then returns to her drawing and ignores
Yong.
When Hua has finished her drawing she looks at Yong’s drawing and says ‘Yong, your drawing is so stupid.
You draw like a baby.’
