what is it meant by the term 'assimilation' in relation to ATSI people?

And how was the policy of assimilation enacted?

I have answered this:

The aim of assimilation was to make the ‘Aboriginal problem’ gradually disappear so that Aboriginal people would lose their identity in the wider community.

AND: To the ATSI people; the term of assimilation means;
absorbing Aboriginal people into white society through the process of removing children from their families.

Please correct me someone. I don't have much time to complete it.. I have so many work to complete. Plus I am doing full time placement now. Full 8hrs.. I have the Placement work to do to. I am stressing out so much. My course ends Mid-March. Please help.
