Annotated observtion

I am use to doing learning stories for my observations.
For my course I have to do some annotated.
I have written this for my annotated. Am I on the right track
"I had just finished reading “Wombat Stew” with the Children using a pot and objects to represent the various items added to the wombat stew. After I had finished, I left the book and the objects on the ground. I observed Jo go over and look in the pot and take out the items. He then opened the book and put the items into the items in when he saw them on the page. Some of the other children saw him and joined him in the play"
Also what would be a good follow up to this activity.
