OSHC Educator To Child Ratio Changes In NSW Now Apply

The Educator to Child ratio of 1:15 for OSHC services will now apply in NSW from today (1 October 2018).

A minimum educator to child ratio of 1:15 now applies nationally for OSHC services providing education and care to children over preschool age.

The ratio means that for every 15 children in an OSHC service there needs to be 1 Educator available. For example for 30 children, 2 Educators should be available etc. Educators must be working directly with children to be counted in the educator to child ratios.

The 1:15 OSHC ratio was introduced in other states on 01 October 2017 when the NQF changes came into effect, however NSW had a 12 month transition period to prepare for the change which has ended on 01 October 2018.

Please make sure that Directors and Educators working in an OSHC service in NSW adhere to these new ratio requirements.
