We're Going On A Lion Hunt

This song is similar to the bear hunt song. It involves a lot of movements, repetition of words and action words thus making it interesting for the kids. You can also use your own imagination to add to it.

We are going on a lion hunt
We are going on a lion hunt

I have got my binoculars
I have got my binoculars

I am not scared
I am not scared

Oh look at that tall wavy grass
Yes it’s a tall wavy grass

We can’t go over it
We can’t go over it
We can’t go under it
We can’t go under it

We have to go through it
We have to go through it
Swish swish swish swish swish

We are going on a lion hunt
We are going on a lion hunt

I have got my binoculars
I have got my binoculars

I am not scared
I am not scared

Uuuh that’s a big river
Ooooh

We can’t go over it
We can’t go over it
We can’t go under it
We can’t go under it

We gonna swim through it
We gonna swim through it
Splash splash splash splash splash

We are going on a lion hunt
We are going on a lion hunt

I have got my binoculars
I have got my binoculars

I am not scared
I am not scared

Ugh look at that mud ughhh

We can’t go over it
We can’t go over it
We can’t go under it
We can’t go under it

We just gonna go through it
We just gonna go through it
Squish squish squish squish squish

We are going on a lion hunt
We are going on a lion hunt

I have got my binoculars
I have got my binoculars

I am not scared
I am not scared

Oh oh what’s that
It’s a cave
Yes a cave

We can’t go over it
We can’t go over it
We can’t go under it
We can’t go under it

We are just gonna into it
We are just gonna into it
Step step step step step

We are going on a lion hunt
We are going on a lion hunt

I have got my binoculars
I have got my binoculars

I am not scared
I am a little scared
It's too dark here

What’s that in the corner?

I can feel two big ears
I can feel two big ears
I can feel a wet nose
I can feel a wet nose
Also two shining teeth
Also two shining teeth

I know what that is
What?
A liiiioooon

Oh no we need to get out of here
Let's get out of here
Out of the cave
Step step step

Ok back through the mud
Squish squish squish

Now back through the water
Splash splash splash

Back through the tall grass
Swish swish swish

Quick open the gate
Up the stairs
In the house
Close the door
Uhh we are safe
That was a close one

Let's not go lion hunting anymore!!!

Hints and Tips:

  • Children will be able to follow it easily with the help of the actions.
  • We are using here words that make sounds like – splash, squish. These enable the kids to grasp the song and its meaning in a better way.
  • The final portion of the song where they are returning back to home needs to be sung fast and with panic.
  • Voice modulation is also very important here.
  • Use appropriate props like binoculars, a giant lion toy and anything else you wish.
  • This will require a lot of practice too.
