No Sew Sock Bunnies Simple Most

Easter is in the air! So why not make some bunnies with our little bunnies? Here is a wonderful way of making bunnies out of socks and the best part is it is a no-sew bunny!

Materials:

  • Sock
  • Rice
  • Large tape
  • Scissors
  • Twine
  • Ribbon
  • Marker

What to do:

  • Take the sock and put it over the tape roll so that you can easily pour rice into the sock.

  • Once you have fixed the sock over the tape, using a small cup start pouring rice into it.

  • Fill the rice into the sock until you reach the ankle portion of the sock.
  • Now form a pear shape with the rice-filled portion such that the upper portion forms the head and the lower portion the body.
  • The ankle portion on top of the head forms the ears of the bunny.
  • As you make the pear shape and get the head and body, first tie the ear portion on top of the head using a twine. Ensure you tie it tightly.
  • Next tie another twine that separates the head and the body. This forms the neckline.
  • Now you need to cut the upper part of the sock vertically so that you get 2 ears of the bunny. You also need to further cut each of these pieces to give the shape of an ear.

  • Mark the eyes of your bunny using a marker. You can simply put a dot or make it a little oval in shape.
  • To keep its mouth simple, you could simply put an X.
  • Now give the final touch by tying the ribbon around its neck and making a bow.
  • Your Easter bunny is ready!

Hints and Tips

  • Generally, the colours of the bunny and socks will coincide easily. You can make them in brown, black or even grey.
  • Also, for the mouth, you could use a red coloured marker.
  • You can shape the ear any way you want; you can make them short and oval-shaped or long and droopy or any way you would like it to be.
  • Make sure you secure the ankle portion tightly with the twine as it will prevent the rice from falling off.
  • This activity develops creativity in a child. Ask them to think of something else that they could make in a similar manner. It may be a doggy or a pussy cat or anything else.
  • This proves to be a great sensory activity too as they play, touch and feel the bunnies made out of rice. It rejuvenates the palm muscles and is a very good muscular activity.
  • You can substitute something else as stuffing but the sensory act can be satisfied only if we use rice or maybe some larger sand particles like the grit.
  • The kids can make such bunnies and gift them during the Easters. Gifting inculcates a lot of values in a child.
