Scenario: Issac

Post by Italian_princess » Mon Jan 23, 2017 11:43 pm

The preschool children are just sitting down to lunch when Issac (3.2 years) vomits on the table.

Describe your immediate actions.

The educator should comfort Issac and ask him to remain calm
The educator should call for assitance
Emergency should be called if necessary
Keep the other children away from the table as well as from Issac
Throw away contaminated food
Clean Issac and Change Issac's clothes
Tables should be cleaned & sanitised using appropriate disinfectant.
The supervisor should be informed. Parents/emergency contact should be informed. :inlove:

What would you do for Issac?

I would talk to issac and try and calm him down, I would let him lye down at a quiet place and give him some water to drink and ask him if he is okay.

What steps would you take to minimise the risk of infection?

Always wear disposable gloves drink the cleaning process. ( they will need to be changed if they become more contaminated by vomit) before proceeding to the next clean up step, Immediately discard any food that may have been struck by droplet of vomit, Wipe away vomit and dispose of the clean cloth and replace gloves.
