I think when writing the daily dairy it's important to reflect on the experiences the children have engaged in and linking them to the EYLF. Using the EYLF learning outcomes as part of your writing really helps parents and educators reading the daily diary what learning the children took place in while participating in the experiences that have been set up throughout the day.

So, instead of:

The children enjoyed doing play dough today. They used the play dough to create different shapes, using the shape cutters and rollers.

Try:

As we continue to develop the children's fine motor skills, the children participated in play dough play using a variety of different materials and equipment. While using play dough the children investigate, project and explore new ideas and some children work individually on their play dough creations while some children are increasingly co-operate and work collaboratively with others.

These will help you with professional words that you can use in your writing:

Children Achieving Outcomes
Educators Achieving Outcomes

Hope this helps,
