Post by 000JNF » Mon Feb 03, 2014 1:55 pm

Your Assignment Module Number and Heading: CHCIC302A - Support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders
Your Assignment Type: Standard Question
Currently Working in Childcare? Yes
Your knowledge: Basic Knowledge

Your Question?
I have two questions:

I need to design a handout to be given to staff as a guide that your service could adopt in regard to appropriate ways to communicate with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander families.

And...

Formulate procedural guidelines for the environment that needs to be created to ensure that resources, experiences and attitudes demonstrate inclusivity and acceptance/support for diversity, including how the ensure the following aspects: All staff members are aware of the procedures and meet their requirements.

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
Nothing as of yet. Just trying to get ideas first.

Procedural guidelines for the environment:
*Ensuring that all resources are multicultural, E.g. Cultural foods in home corner, books, dress ups, puzzles, art activities.
*Keeping up to date with important cultural events by asking families from all backgrounds what they specifically celebrate and incorporate it into the program and centre activities.
*When the policy gets updated, send around a memo including the updates policy to ensure all staff are up to date with the 'inclusion and cultural diversity' policy.
