Hey guys :)

I have a question I am struggling with and was wondering if anyone had any more suggestions- the question is
" 18-month old Dylan has been biting his friends at the centre when he gets frustrated. what strategies would you use to support Dylan to understand and accept responsibility for their own actions, appropriate to their level of understanding?

the answers I have are:-
* specify what is frustrating Dylan
* Redirect Dylan to another activity or redirect another child if problem is steming from two children disagreeing
* place Dylan in a bigger room with more stimulation
* positive reinforcement
* "Dylan, its not nice to bite our friends"

I'm finding this difficult due to Dylan being 18 months old and his understanding level

Thanks for your help x

You could say something like "Ouch it hurts, biting hurts".
Provide him with simplified activities where he doesn't get frustrated
Have an educator "shadow" him through out the day and step in when the biting may about to occur to stop it before it starts
Read stories and sing songs about feelings etc.

Teach him to stay stop when he doesn't like something...
