Legal and Ethical Issues In Specific Scenarios

Post by Gracemiller » Tue Apr 11, 2017 4:50 pm

hello everyone would love some help for ideas and help to finish my assigment im really stuck i will post the assignmet questions below

you are required to choose three (3) of the case studies below.

For each case study discuss in detail the following:

a) Name the case study chosen.

b) Identify the legal or ethical issue or issues? Explain your decision.

c) Who is affected by the issue or issues?

d) For the issue or issues that you have identified, what are your responsibilities as an educator?

e) Explain what action you would take and why.

f) Identify an organisational policy or procedure which may need to be reviewed as a result of events as outlined in your chosen case study.

g) How you could contribute to the policy review? Be specific about each case study.

Case Studies:

1. Children in the Workplace – The child of a staff member attends the service 5 days a week while the parent is working in the toddler room. The child has just turned 2 and is about to move into the toddler room. The child becomes distressed whenever they see their parent during work hours and the staff member has previously been known to favour their child during working hours.

2. Religious practices - A staff member who is Muslim needs to pray over a certain period of the year regularly. The service has provided her with a separate room and covers the times she needs to pray. At this time the staff member is also fasting. All of the other staff at the centre are talking behind her back and complaining that she is getting extra time off because she needs to pray.

3. Sharing Information - A parent from your School Age and Education and Care setting has asked you for another parent’s phone number so that they can organise a catch up for their children. Both of the children enjoy playing together at the service.

4. Return to work - A co-worker who has hurt her back, has forgotten to take her scheduled breaks as planned in her Workcover Return to Work program. She tells you not to tell the director.

5. Parental request - At the end of the day, one of the 2-year-olds is falling asleep during group time and the child becomes very distressed when woken up. This has been happening consistently over the last couple of weeks. The parents have requested that their child is not allowed to sleep during the day because when she does have a sleep, she stays awake until 11pm.

any help would be grately appreciatecd thank you xoxo
