Lead and Develop others in a community sector workplace

Good Morning

Can anyone please help me with Lead and Develop others in a community sector workplace.

Consider your daily/weekly requirements. Make a list. Which of these tasks can and should you delegate?

Tasks I can delegate? Person to whom they can be delegated? Support needed? Benefits to self and employee?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. :)

Hi Jynette,

Not sure if this helps you out (hopefully it does) but I'm providing you with a list of duties/tasks that a childcare professional will need to complete. Just a note - This is very general and other factors are also taken into consideration such as qualification. position etc.

List of tasks/duties:

-Work with staff members to ensure the smooth operation of the centre subject to service policies and procedures in the Parent Handbook and the Long Day Manual.

-Contribute to and assist in the development and/or evaluation of the program.

-Assist other staff in the provision of appropriate early childhood education and experiences.

-Supervise the activities of a group of children during the day ( eg language / music groups ).

-Positively interact with the children nurturing their confidence and self esteem giving each child individual attention and comfort as required.

-Assist in planning for the ongoing development of the child.

-Assist in the recording of children's development.

-Assist in implementing the daily routines eg. bathroom, lunch and rest times.

-Participate in supervising indoor/outdoor environments to provide safety for the child at all times.

-Ensure a clean and healthy environment for all children.

-Communicate with parents as delegated by the room supervisor or Director.

-Perform incidental administrative duties.

-Attend to incidental cleaning and housekeeping associated with the individual and group activities, experiences and routines.

-As requested attend parent/staff meetings and other Communicare Sydney activities.

-Discharge responsibilities of the position under the National Accreditation Scheme.

If you are working as a room leader in the room recording and planning of the children's program as well as child observations should be shared between yourself and your assistant. However if you are delegating these particular tasks to other staff members there are primarily your responsibility as a room leader... Most other tasks can be delegated to other staff in the room such as supervising children, cleaning, interacting with children etc... However as a room leader you will need to lead by example so it's important that you also share responsibility when delegating tasks. Administrative works (such as filling out reports, incident reports etc) should only be completed by room leaders.

Have a great weekend :D !
