Scenario: Toddler Drawing - Positive and Negative Statements

Post by Felicia » Mon Dec 19, 2016 12:39 pm

Please advice if my answer is correct. Thank you.

Unit: CHCECE007 Develop positive and respectful relationship with children
Question: Consider, and reflect on the different attitudes and environments we can create when we use positive or negative statements.
Drawing Art – Toddler draws line resembling mommy, daddy, sister and self
Positive: That’s beautiful, which one is mommy? Do you want me to write mommy next to it?
Negative: That don’t look right, Is mommy, daddy, sister and you look like all look a line to you?
The positive statement: the child feels appreciated in the negative statement child feels undermined

Positive: Rather than "that's beautiful" - I can see you are trying really hard to draw your family... Keep going! Then add the rest of your response...
Negative: LOL! That's really mean!
