CHCPR509A - Authentic Documentation Process Of Learning

Post by Harmony » Tue Jan 24, 2012 1:19 pm

Assignment: CHCPR509A - Gather, interpret and use information about children

Hi, I'm just wondering if somebody can tell me if I am on the right track or not.

Explain what is meant by the following statement in relation to documentation.
"Documentation must be authentic, and reflect both the processes of learning as well as the acquisition of skills and knowledge"

I wrote:
Documents must be a truthful and display what the child is learning as well as proof or indicators of the child's knowledge and skills.

AND

In relation to gathering, documenting and interpreting evidence about children's development explain what is meant by the following statement:
"The essence of a child cannot be seperated from the actions of the child"

I wrote:
A child's actions are purposeful and meaningful, they are a reflection of who they are and what their influences are.

OK, Thanks

You need to make sure that the documentation is not made up and is done from actual observations you have done on the child and it must show what they are doing and what they have learnt from what they are doing.

For the 2nd yes you can get to really know the child and what their personality is and interests are by watching their actions

Thanks for your help :)

I'm struggling with this "suggest the strategies the practitioners could use as assessment for learning"

I was hoping someone could provide an example of this so I can work on it more...
Thanks :)

Hi Harmony,

I think this question is referring to assessments such as:

- Developmental Checklists
- Observations
- Photos
- Work Samples

Cheers :geek:,

I am referring to this question again since i got it wrong.
In relation to gathering, documenting and interpreting evidence about children’s development explain what is meant by the following statement:
‘The essence of the child cannot be separated from the actions of the child.’

My answer was:
This means that a child's actions are purposeful and meaningful, they are a reflection of who they are and what their influences are. By watching the child’s actions, we can know the child and what their personality is and interests are.

The assessor's comment was:
Incorrect. Revise and resubmit.

I searched on the net and could not find anything. Can someone help me please.
Thanks,
Maya

Hi Maya!

I found some information for you.

Frameworks For Learning and Development

On page 53, the last sentence (next to figure 2.2) you will see the quote above in your question and the following pages help you to understand what that means...

Hope this helps!
